"Heart to
God, Hand to Man" -This has been a Salvation Army
motto for many years.
It is a motto that expresses what we are trying to do. It
also embraces the words of Jesus Christ --"I was hungry
and you fed me…Truly to the extent that you did it to
one of these brothers of Mine. Even the least of them you
did it to Me."
But in these times of world unrest, this
motto takes on special meaning.
With the tragic events of the past year and the personal
loss felt by so many as well as the ongoing issues that face
many Americans, the need for a helping hand by someone with
a heart for God is greater than ever.
The Army is still on the scene in the East, helping with
food, grief counseling and monetary support for families of
the terrorist strike. The Army is on the scene throughout
the world helping to alleviate suffering. And right here in
Orange County, The Salvation Army is on the scene as well.
Families are comforted and helped with food and clothing
in times of need. Homeless men, women and children are housed
and fed. Young people are given a safe and structured environment
to grow and develop. And new opportunities to reach out with
a helping hand are being developed continually. The newest
effort came this year with the addition of the Henley Youth
Center housing "The Creator's Corner" Christian
preschool and after-school programs. What a blessing to hear
the sound of children laughing and playing and learning.
With our Orange County Advisory Board taking the lead, we
will continue to push for increased housing services for the
homeless. We are actively looking at locations for much needed
emergency shelter space for women and children.
Your support and generous gifts allow us to carry on the
work of our Lord. We thank
all who have given of their time, talent and financial resources
to support
The Salvation Army.
Thank you for helping reach out with a "Heart to God
and a Hand to Man".
God bless you.
